McQ, a contemporary brand from Alexander McQueen, distils the vision of Creative Director Sarah Burton into collections that embody an urban, young London. Rooted in the renegade spirit of Lee Alexander McQueen who founded the brand in 2005, McQ has an independent and rebellious spirit that sets it apart from its contemporaries. Drawing on the rich design archive of Alexander McQueen, McQ offers a relaxed, raw interpretation of the house codes. McQ has always taken inspiration from street culture, evoking the varied and ever-evolving style tribes that spring up around Britain’s rich music and art scenes. Drawing on references from uniform and the military, core staples of the British wardrobe are re-imagined each season in new guises. Traditional techniques are used in contemporary ways, creating pieces that are both functional and beautiful.
About McQ McQ was founded by Lee Alexander McQueen in 2005. A five-year license agreement followed with SINV SpA. In November 2011 the brand was brought back under house control under Creative Director Sarah Burton, who worked with Lee McQueen from 1996, beginning with the Pre-AW11 collection. McQ hosted a one-off show on schedule at London Fashion Week in February 2012. McQ has offered accessories and footwear alongside clothing since 2012. The brand’s first global flagship opened on London’s Dover Street in September 2012. Prices £100-£2,000 approx. About Sarah Burton Sarah Burton is British born.
